They’re ready to run even with the biting chill outside. We’ve got them covered from head to toe with cold-weather gear.

That sweet sweater weather

Breath in the air? Frost on the ground? Doesn’t matter — it’s time to lace up and head out the door. The Blizzard Braver’s superpower is knowing how to dress for the cold without overheating during the run.

Gifts for the Blizzard Braver

Blessed with an indifference to the teeth-chattering cold of winter, the Blizzard Braver dresses for the occasion with beanies, jackets, tights, and sweatpants.

Tips for cold-weather running

We admire an all-weather attitude, but extreme elements can put a Blizzard Braver at risk for injury. Here are some tips to keep safe and comfortable during cold-weather runs.

Keep your hands and head warm

A good pair of running gloves will fight off finger stiffness, but did you know that a warm head is one of the best ways to save extremities from the chill? Hats or beanies trap heat on the head and help regulate internal temperature, allowing for proper blood flow to arms and hands.

Pick the right shoes

Wear shoes with traction like the Cascadia 15 with TrailTack on the outsole. This shoe offers enhanced grip and takes the guesswork out of where to step. It also comes in a Gore-Tex® model so your feet will stay dry in the snow or wet weather.

Dress for the run, not the cold

Kyle Schaffer, Guru field rep for Minnesota and the Dakotas, suggests you don’t overdo it with bulky gear. “The layers I wear aren’t super-heavy because I don’t want to feel sluggish on the run. My go-to for winter running is usually the Canopy jacket as my last layer. I love that it is wind- and water-resistant. I can take it off, pack it down into a bag that fits in my pocket, and keep moving.”

Hydrate

Hydration isn’t just for sunshine. Your body needs an adequate amount of water before and after the run, no matter the temperature.
