What is the purpose of the loop on the tongue?

Hi Renee! The loop on the tongue serves two purposes - it can be used as a "lace keeper" where you can tuck your laces in so they won't snag on the trail and/or it can be used as a gaiter tab to attach a gaiter that will help keep debris out of the shoe.

Are these water resistant?

Hi Jess! The Catamount 2 are not water resistant or waterproof.

The original Catamount has a glued-in, non-removable insole. Any change on that in the Catamount 2?

Which brooks is best for steep uphill road runs?

Hi Sharon! Any of our road running models should be great options for a steep uphill road run. Our trail line, including the Catamount 2, will feature our TrailTack rubber outsole which offers traction on both wet and dry surfaces, however, this outsole is designed for trails as opposed to asphalt.
