I’m giving this 2 stars in comparison to the previous version; however the new, in my opinion, inferior version is by far better than every other running short I’ve tried.
The quality seemed maintained however the new features are annoying. The zip pocket is useless and the back pocket is no longer large enough to hold my mobile phone. I also miss the front pockets that were perfect for holding my pocket knife without chafing, a very important feature for women running alone. Finally the new drawstring is uncomfortable and looks frumpy.

Best running shorts with 5" inseam
Best fit for 5 inch running shorts on rhe market today. The waistband is super comfortable. I have all of the colors and waiting for new releases.

Prefer the original Chaser. The zipper on the side doesn’t lay flat. There’s more material around the legs than the original Chaser.

Don’t buy. Old version was perfect but this one is not flattering.
I sent this back, nothing like the old chaser other than size. Mot flattering at all and the pocket was worthless on the side. I guess I will be looking to a different brand for my new favorite shorts. Bummer, I loved the old version

Comfy and Bright
I got Brooks Chaser shorts during the winter so I have used these mostly on the treadmill and while weight training or doing HIIT workouts. My workouts are probably 30/70 running/weights or cross training so I like that these shorts were versatile enough for both. I found the fabric really comfortable and lightweight. I am 5'0" so they're a bit mid/high waisted which I love after 3 kids. I feel nice and tucked in! The one thing that looks a little funny is that there is a draw string which goes through the waist band so it almost looks like a fold or wrinkle but my shirts are usually loose or over the waist band anyway so you don't see it. The best part of these shorts is they don't ride up while running. The inner lining is comfy and not annoying one bit and I feel totally covered if I were to do any workouts on the ground or mat. I love the hot pink color! Definitely recommend for runners!

You feel free in these shorts!
These shorts are one of my favorites now in rotation and I can’t wait until the temperature begins to warm up more to use them more frequently. I love the built in liner that makes me feel secure, but the outer material is more loose fitting and flows so well with movement. These shorts are flattering in all the right places. I received the bright orange/pink color, which as a roadside runner at times near my neighborhood, feels like an added safety measure considering the brightness. I haven’t experienced any chaffing or skin breakdown while wearing these shorts, a testament to friction and moisture prevention. Very pleased!

These Shorts are Great
These shorts are the perfect addition to my running wardrobe. I run a few times a week so I am always looking for more gear to add to my collection. I am a big fan of the color and overall design of the shorts. The fabric is light and breathable; perfect for running. The high waistband with drawstrings are great to ensure a comfortable fit. The length and loose shorts are a great combination of modest and practical. The only thing I would change about these shorts is that the inner lining is a bit tight. Overall very happy with them.

New Favorite Running Shorts!
These shorts are definitely my new favorite go to running shorts! They fit perfectly, totally true to size, and feel like butter on your skin! The large band on the top makes it so that it cinches your waist in and also keeps the shorts from moving up while you run!! The bright pink/coral color is so beautiful too, every time I wear them people compliment me!

Brooks Womens Chaser 5" Short 2.0 Size Large
Comfortable, breathable, and my new go-to short! The adjustable drawstring and thick band help me feel secure during training, while the light-weight fabric allows me to move easily. I love these shorts for cross-training, lifting, lounging, and sleeping. The small side zip pouch is great to secure a set of keys for a quick errand or walk. I am 5'10" and in my 30's, so the rise (just to my belly button) and length are exactly what I look for, which is often difficult at my height. As someone in the thick thighs club, unfortunately running in shorts is off the table, these shorts included. These shorts did ride up on the inner thigh pretty quickly for me when running and hiking (however, this is a problem I encounter with all running shorts - not just these). That aside, these are some of the best-fitting athletic shorts I've worn in a while!
