Are any Brooks sneakers recommended for tennis/pickleball?

Hi Gwenn! As a running company, all our shoes are designed and tested with forward motion in mind. Activities that involve lateral movements, like tennis or pickleball, are not something our shoes are built for and the life expectancy of the shoe (300-500 miles) is likely to decrease. With that being said, for people that still choose to use our shoes for more of these lateral movement activities, we tend to recommend a lower-profile, neutral style such as the Launch, Revel, or Levitate. We like to recommend neutral styles for these activities since additional support elements in the shoes can get in the way when used for more functional (especially lateral) movements.

Would this be a good shoe for high school cross country where they typically run on grass surfaces?

Hi Sarah! The Hyperion Tempo is a great lightweight shoe that can be used for training and races, though the outsole is built for road running. You can certainly run on grass in the Hyperion Tempo, but it may feel slippery when the terrain is wet.

Is the toe box wide like the glycerin 20's?

Hi Connie! The Hyperion Tempo has a stretch-woven upper and moves with your foot to provide maximum comfort and a performance fit in the toe box area.

Are these waterproof?

I wear a 7 in the Levitate Stealthfit, would a 7 be the recommended size in these?

Hi Jen! If you wear a size 7 in the Levitate StealthFit 5, we recommend a size 7 in the Hyperion Tempo.

What is the same fit as the ghost 13?

Hi Dorothy! The Hyperion Tempo has a tighter fit, but we recommend ordering the same size as your Ghost 13.

I'm a 6 in street shoes, 6.5 in Levitate 4 and 7 in Glycerin and Launch. What size would you suggest, 6.5 or 7?

I usually wear adrenaline Brooks to run 4 miles and cross train! Are these similar?

Hi Maria! The Adrenaline GTS is a Support style that includes our GuideRails technology, whereas The Hyperion Tempo is a Neutral style that does not include this support technology. The Hyperion Tempo aligns with an even to a supinated gait cycle. If you're looking for a more responsive experience than the Adrenaline GTS and that includes GuideRails, we recommend the Launch GTS 8 or the Levitate GTS 5.

Hi, if I am a dude, and I like a specific color way for the ladies, can I size-up the standard 1 and half size and buy, or are the women sizes narrower than the gents? (I am a 9.5 in men's size)

Hi Ronnie! That is correct, we recommend going up 1.5 size from your Men's size. If you are a size 9.5 in Men's style, we recommend a size 11 in the Women's style.

How do these compare to the Ravenna?

Hi Leah! The Ravenna was one of our Support styles, while the Hyperion Tempo is a Neutral style. The Hyperion Tempo provides more energy return in every step, compared to the responsiveness of the Ravenna. If you're looking for a responsive style with support, we recommend the Launch GTS 8.

Can you machine wash them?

Hi Eydie! We do not recommend machine washing the Hyperion Tempo as they can be too aggressive and cause the shoes to stretch or warp, compromising the materials and performance of the shoe. To clean your shoes, remove the internal liner and hand wash the shoes in warm water with mild soap. Make sure not to submerge or soak the shoes in water. Once you are done washing the shoes, stuff your shoes with newsprint (plain if you have it) and allow them to air dry.

Would you recommend these shoes for a marathon and long distance?

Hi Andrea! The Hyperion Tempo is a great option and recommended for long distances, including the Marathon.

What’s the difference between women’s and men’s is it just the available colour options?

Hi Mirielle! There's a width difference between the Women's and Men's Hyperion Tempo. A Women's Medium width is a B width, while the Men's Medium width is a D width.

Are they good fort orange theory fitness?

Would you recommend sizing up or ordering my normal size ?

Hi Kayla! If you have worn our styles before, we recommend ordering the same size for the Hyperion Tempo. If you have not worn our styles before, we recommend going up half a size for the Hyperion Tempo.

What size would you suggest??? I’m between a 6 and 6.5. I recently ordered the Levitate 4 in a 6.5 and they were way too big. I have a pair of Launch 6 in a 6.5 and they fit great.

Will this shoe give me that extra pep in my step? Or is the speed more so generated by how much I push/how light the shoe is? I see the word responsive frequently used. Define responsive... Currently I own the Ghost 12. I can’t decide between the Ghost 13 or Hyperion Tempo.

Hi Kristina! The Hyperion Tempo will give you an extra pep in your step as midsole is very responsive. Think of responsive as a spring, as you run, the shoe gives you energy return or bounce back as you stride through. Rotating between the Ghost 13 and the Hyperion Tempo is a great idea, as these 2 styles have the same support, but will give you a difference experience in cushion. Choosing one over the other is up to you.

Best shoe for walking?

Should I wear the same show to walk in that I run in?

Hi Anna! Our shoes are designed for walking and running. Having a pair for running and a pair for walking is a great idea to ensure the highest level of performance and comfort, plus this maintains the lifespan of the shoe.

I run on roads for summer training so I need some cushion but I run in trails/grass in fall and I was wondering if they get decent traction like running flats would?

Hi Joseph! The Hyperion Tempo may be a great option for light trail and grass. If you need added traction and protection from the trails, we recommend the Catamount.

How does the shoe size compare to ghost 13?

What is the difference between Levitate and Bedlum 3?

Hi Theresa! The Levitate and Bedlam are very similar, both are designed for a highly responsive and cushioned ride. The main difference between the two is the Bedlam is designed with GuideRails - a support system to provide extra stability and the Levitate is not.

What is the material used to make the shoe? Is it sustainable?

Are these slip resistant shoes?

The Hyperion Tempo is not a slip resistant style, the only slip-resistant certified shoe we offer is the Addiction Walker 2.

I normally wear Glycerin’s, are these similar?

The Tempo is exactly as described: "Run hard. Recover hard. This women's running shoe is a light and responsive trainer that's designed to keep you in your stride so you can run harder, longer." With a 8mm midsole drop it is not as forgiving as the Glycerin. This shoe makes you work. It's fast, efficient, and definitely keeps you in stride. But it's not for everybody. Those with high arches may find it too demanding for long runs, but it's a game-changer if you want to take it to the next level and maintain a specific pace for longer distances. If you are looking to just cruise on your easy runs than stick with the Glycerins. But if you want to turn it up a notch jump into these rockets and I guarantee you a faster pace will greet you with every step. Run Happy!

Currently training for my 4th half marathon, with plans to continue on from that to my first marathon. Need new trainers, desperately. Are these a good choice for training, or intended to just be for speed work/racing?

They are very light. If you like light sneaker to train than these are for you. If not, I wouldn’t recommend. In my opinion, I love them but don’t find them supportive enough for training.

What kind of arch does it have? It says it fits flat, medium and high. With flat feet I don’t want a high arch.

I have a pretty low arch and I think the Tempo is definitely on the lower side for arch height! I have about 30 miles on my pair so far and haven't had any trouble. Hope that helps.

Is there a carbon plate in the temp?

No, the Tempo doesn't have a carbon plate.

What Brooks shoe is this most similar to?

The Hyperion Tempo is most similar to the Hyperion Elite though comparable to the Hyperion and Launch 7 in some cases.

I wear orthotics and run in a neutral shoe, but am looking for something lighter for races/speedwork. Will my orthotics defeat the purpose of these?

Your orthotics would add a few ounces of weight which will most likely be noticeable, however, including your orthotics this would still be a very lightweight/responsive shoe compared to others.
