APMA Seal of Acceptance
APMA Seal of Acceptance

The American Podiatry Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance recognizes products that promote good foot health. At Brooks, products across seven of our key franchises feature the APMA Seal of Acceptance. This Achievement highlights our leadership in biomechanical research for runners and anyone who spends extended time on their feet.
Hi Kathryn! We recommend visiting a local running shop and have your gait and feet analyzed by a Fit Expert. They'll be able to recommend options accordingly. To find a shop near you, check out our Store Locator tool.

They are cloth but with good support. I have high arches; the Ariel are the only walking/running shoes I have found with enough support and comfort for me. I have worn them for years.
I think Ariel offer more support.... if that's what you need. Addiction is an excellent shoe. I have one of each. I use the Ariel when I am "pushing it" and the Addiction when I'm taking things a bit easier. I like to switch out.
It's pretty much the same fit.
(But I wish Brooks hadn't changed the entire fit from the much earlier versions, e.g. '16, '14' etc. If it wasn't broke, why fix it?!)
I’m ready for the change, need super stability, want the Ariel, but can you tell me what sizing would be most appropriate? Thank you!
I have learned that I have to take a tape measure and measure my foot each time I purchase a different type of shoe to make sure I'm getting the correct size. I recently purchased a different brand training shoe and ended up with a 7.5, which is a whole size larger than I've ever gotten. Oddly, fits perfectly with room at the toe. I've been wearing the wrong size my entire life lol
My shorter advice, measure, use their size chart, and trust it. Happy running!
I have neuropathy and heel pain ball of foot. My old asics gel moya wear out on the outside, hole near pinky toe.
I need lots of cusion to help with pain when standing long time.
Also because of nerve damage, as I walk if not watching and hit a rock can cause my ankle to roll outside and fall.
I have big feet , I usually wear size 12 womens but not sure if its a wide show or normal.
Nike women's 12 fir great, asics women's 12 are a little to small.
So will these shoes work for me, and what size or i was also told the ghost or glycerin
and I only use shoes to walk.?
We recommend ordering Brooks running shoes 1/2 size to one size larger than what you wear in casual or dress shoes. Whenever possible, visit your local running and walking footwear store for a proper fitting. Also, our Shoe Finder, can help you find the right shoe. Simply answer a few simple questions and we'll introduce you to your solemate.

Though the Ariel '20 is designed primarily as a walking shoe, there are many runners who wear the Ariel with much success. The stability, cushion, and breathable/flexible upper make the Ariel a versatile model.
Hi Tess! The Ariel '20 maintains the same cushion level and support level as the Ariel '18. The biggest difference is the GuideRails support technology we integrates in the sole of the Ariel '20. This supports your whole body in its natural stride while keeping excess movement in check.
The Ariel '20 is a great walking shoe choice for a roomy toe box but may not fit your high arch needs like the Adrenaline GTS 20 which offers a high arch design, plush cushioning, and multiple width options.

The Ariel '20 as well as other max support/cushion styles like the Addiction 14 and Addiction Walker 2 are designed to provide the maximum amount of support, promote comfort and stability.
