Is shoe good for low arches?

Hi Angenette. The footbed and insoles of all of our shoes have the same arch height and arch support. Our shoe styles in our inventory are split into 2 sections, Neutral and Support. The support in running shoes is different than the support of insoles or orthotics. Our Support styles include our GuideRails technology, which supports your whole body in its natural stride while keeping excess movement in check. Insoles or orthotics give you support directly under the arch. Our sock-liners are removable so that you can input your own insole or orthotic to achieve personalized arch support.

Does the Ariel 20 have attached gusset?

Is this shoe water proof? Also if not and they get soaked, does it affect the shoe performance?

Hi Virginia! The Ariel '20 is not waterproof. If they get wet, we recommend taking the insoles out to let them dry separately from the shoes. You can also stuff your shoes with newspaper to help them maintain shape and decrease drying time. We recommend avoiding dryers. Getting them wet should not affect performance.

Do these fit the same as dyads? I had to but a size 11 before but 10.5 in dyads.

The Ariel '20, Addiction GTS 15, Addiction Walker 2 (including V-Strap and Suede versions), and Dyad 11 are all built on a linear last, which generally means that the footbed is slightly wider and the forefoot does not curve upward. The most similar model of the Glycerin would be the Glycerin GTS 20, which also features our GuideRails® technology. The Glycerin GTS 20 features our nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 - super soft cushioning optimized to be lightweight, responsive, and durable with plush comfort. It is built on a curved last and generally will not provide as much volume as the Ariel '20.

I had an arthritic joint removal, and need a hard-soled shoe to transition out of the boot I’ve been living in for two months. Would these be a recommended shoe for that, or is there another type of Brooks shoe that would be a better fit?

Hi there! The Ariel '20 and our other styles are specifically designed for run and walk performance, and don't specifically have slip resistance built into them. Though our Addiction Walker shoe offers a slight friction coefficient (enough for wet pavement), they are not up to the specifications required for work shoes who have a certified skid resistance.

We recommend following these directions to keep your shoes looking and performing their best. Start by removing the internal liner and hand wash the shoes in warm water with mild soap. Make sure not to submerge or soak the shoes in water. Once you're finished cleaning, stuff your shoes with newsprint (plain if you have it) and allow them to air dry. When they are all dried out, you can reinsert the liner.
