Get to know the Brooks Trail Runners

The Brooks Trail Runners are our elite athletes who are pushing the boundaries of performance when it comes to running the most incredible trails and mountains, all around the world.

You’ve already met Roberto, Sébastien, Julia and Luke and discovered what races they’re focusing on in 2024. Now let’s get to know them a little better…

Why are you running with Brooks?

Luke: “I really like Brooks’ ethos and encouraging people from backgrounds to get active; I think being active is one of the most important things we can do to help ourselves face whatever challenges life throws at us.”

Roberto: “I’m really into the “Let’s Run There” spirit of the brand, I really think that everybody is different so it is really important that everybody finds his path to be active and to reach their goals in running.”

Julia: “I really like that we are invested in this project and we don't only run, we help to improve the prototype before the shoes go on the market.”

Which Brooks trail shoe do you prefer and why?

Luke: “My favourite shoe is the Catamount 3. It’s a light but sturdy shoe. It gives enough protection to be able to run 100K in it, but it still feels quick and responsive. It’s hard wearing and can get me a long way through the mountains as quickly as possible!”

Julia: “I prefer Catamount 3 and Agil. They are agile and reactive. For short races, 1-2h30' I use Agil because they are more reactive and you can go fast in all terrains. For >2h30' I use catamount 3 because they have more cushioning and it's more important to save the muscles for the final of the race.”

Sébastien: “I prefer the Catamount Agil because they are very efficient: light, precise and offer very good feedback, which allows you to save money and speed when racing. They are perfect for my discipline, Skyrunning.”

What is your favourite apparel piece of the Trail Head to Toe collection?

Roberto: “The Trail shorts, they have good storage volume and they fit really well on me, I love them in every kind of training or long races where I need good storage.”

Luke: “I really like the Sherpa shorts. The waistband is super useful for keys, card, phone and gels. I love these shorts for all my runs!”

Sébastien: “High Point 5" 2-in-1 Short 2.0 for comfort and its integrated belt.”

What is the best tip you can give for those newbies on the trails?

Julia: “You don’t have to run long races – you can enjoy the same with short races. And always enjoy training without pressure. Trail is very fun, and you can explore incredible places!”

Sébastien: “Go at your own pace, and don’t progress too quickly (speed, distance, elevation). The important thing is to have fun, to take advantage of what is around you and to come out of each run filled with joy, confidence and happiness.”

Roberto: “Have fun, give your time to improve and during training don’t push on the downhills.”

Luke: “Don’t do too much too soon – always focus on enjoyment rather than distance and everything else will follow!”
