Tis the season for lots of layers.

Do you have the right gear to help you stick to your routine this winter? To make runs more manageable in cold weather, it’s important to layer your apparel. Running layers are crucial because even though the air cools during the winter season, your body will stay warm as you work hard.

Remember: dress for the run, not the cold. Overdressing with bulky attire can lead to overheating, which could be unsafe. A good tip is to dress like it’s 20 degrees warmer than it is outside.

What to wear when running in inclement weather

At Brooks, we’re all about distraction-free running, weather included. You should be focused on your stride instead of worrying about running in the rain or snow.

Here are our head-to-toe recommendations for winter running gear:

Take cover in this jacket.

The men’s and women’s Canopy Jacket is a must-have for winter running. This wind- and water-resistant jacket is made from breathable DriLayer® Seal fabric. It lets excess heat out without letting the elements in. Plus, you can seal it up into a built-in mesh pocket. If you’re getting warm, you can take it off, pack it down, and keep moving.
