This metric refers to the percentage of material by weight that has been recycled from post- or pre-consumer sources.
Number of plastic bottles
-
Our roadmap to use recycled raw materials initially focuses on post-consumer sources, such as plastic bottles.
-
With help from our suppliers, we calculate the number of plastic bottles used to make a size medium of each product.

As an older 54M runner with a history of injuries they have been very comfortable and despite the highest mileages I've run in many years, I have have been surprisingly free of aches and pains. I'd definitely replace these immediately if they ever went missing.
The actual performance of the shoes is interesting. Because of the thickness/depth of the foam at the heel these shoes do force you to pick your feet up higher when in motion. Something that is probably a benefit but a little tedious for an older shuffler. The level of cushioning is good, the amount of shock absorption seems to be very good, the comfort of the heel "cockpit" is excellent and the tongue is very nicely padded, the laces are soft and do seem to remain done up when fastened. However the active support around the heel cup does feel a little narrow and seems to dig in a little. Not something you notice early on but after a run you wonder what that sensitive spot on your heel instep is. So the jury is still out on this area. It is hard to see where Brooks have actually spent the money on these shoes which are basically a series of preformed pieces of foam rummer and upper glued together so I do feel these are actually very expensive and expect them to last a long time as a result if Brooks want brand loyalty.
Fortunately these do come in a range of large sizes and I take a UK 14, getting hold of anything from Brooks in this size is a nightmare as their supply chain is woefully inadequate, something they recognise but nothing ever changes. So I am currently testing these shoes but wary of the narrow width of the active support, I do not have wide feet, also the odd colour combination is rather off putting and not inspirational.
Try a pair if you have the cash to spare, the cushioning level is good and the padded comfort pleasant.
